Just as Tony sees Maria alive, Chino arrives and shoots Tony.

He was outvoted on other issues: And, even though the movie version of the stage production does not play quite as well today as it once did, it still represents a brave and effective fusion of serious and fantasy elements, and offers two and one-half hours of solid entertainment.
